McRae glad to be back on gravel
After difficult times on the last two rounds of the World Rally Championship, Colin McRae believes the return to gravel surface events will allow him to get his title bid back on track
'From a personal point of view, I enjoy driving on gravel more than asphalt,' said the Ford driver, 'Rally cars are more balanced on the looser surface and after Catalunya and Corsica I'm looking forward to getting back to gravel.'
McRae put early season troubles behind him to win in both Kenya and Portugal, but retired from the Catalunya event and dropped to fourth in Corsica after a series of late problems.
Tommi Makinen has been the man to beat in South America in recent years, but McRae is confident of a good result on one of his favourite rallies:
'The whole atmosphere surrounding the Rally Argentina is special,' he said, 'you can really attack the stages.
'The rally has a reputation for being quite rough, but I don't find the roads too bad.
'After our wins in Kenya and Portugal we're obviously confident going into this rally, but I'm sure our rivals have been working hard to close the gap.'
