Loeb raring to take on star team-mates

Citroen's young star Sebastien Loeb says he can't wait to pit himself against new his former world champion team-mates Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz

The team is currently busy testing and Loeb admits that he hasn't had time to talk to the former Ford duo yet, but the Frenchman says their experience, especially on gravel rallies, will help him.

"During testing you drive for two days then another driver takes over for two days so you really only cross over for a few moments," he explained. "But their arrivals are both very positive things for the team. I'm still lacking in experience, the Xsara is the only WRC car I have driven and I'm just starting to learn about different types of surfaces so their input will be very useful.

"It's good for the team as we are doing our first full season this year," he continued. "If I can approach their times the whole world knows just how quick a McRae is. If I am able to fight with him people will know that my times are good."

The WRC season kicks off with the Monte Carlo Rally in two weeks' time. Loeb excelled on the French tarmac there last season and team-mate McRae expects the Frenchman to do the same this time around.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see Sebastien beating Carlos and I," admitted McRae. "Sebastien has shown he can win this event and he as got the advantage of knowing the car like the back of his hand."
