Bike star Hislop hints at rallying future
Reigning British Superbike Champion Steve Hislop has hinted that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Valentino Rossi and try his hand at rallying sometime in the future after speaking on the stage at the AUTOSPORT International show in Birmingham's NEC today (Thursday)
"I drove a Seat Rally Championship car about three years ago at Silverstone and I thoroughly enjoyed that," said the 40-year-old Scot who will defend his BSB title on a Virgin Mobile One Yamaha R1 this season.
"It's quite interesting because we get quite good feel and feedback from the superbikes that we ride," he said. "Plus a lot of us have done a lot of motocross and stuff like that.
"If I ever turn my hand to cars it will probably be more on the rallying side of it. But then again Terry Rymer turned his hand to cars and now he has replaced Steve Parish so we will just have to see what happens."
Hislop is one of a host of superstars from world of motorcycle racing including Neil Hodgson, Sean Emmett, Michael Rutter and Leon Haslam, to appear at BikeSport, which is now an established element of the Autosport International show.
