Halli Service E Notes

Marcus Gronholm (Peugeot) - rally leader: "No problems. The car is working very well."

(Subaru) - second, +16.3s: "There is a lot of gravel on the last two stages, but we lost less time than we expected to Marcus. I didn't do these stages last year either (he had already crashed out). On the first stage this morning (SS10) this morning the left rear tyre went about 5km before the finish. About 1km before the end it exploded. I thought I'd damaged the suspension because I couldn't feel anything through the steering."

(Subaru) - third, +22.8s: "In some tight corners you can see the braking points of the cars in front, but not too much. The last stage (SS12) was a bit loose. Maybe the tyre choice was a bit too soft, but it's not a disaster."

(Peugeot) - fourth, +33.4s: On the first stage this morning (SS10) I had a puncture somewhere in the middle. After that stage I saw some oil coming out of the shock absorbers like yesterday/ It didn't get as bad as before, but I was thinking about it."

(Ford) - fifth, +45.1s: "We're not making an impression on the guys beyond Didier (Auriol). It's just a case of keeping this pace and seeing what happens."

(Ford) - seventh, +1m08.3s: "The car felt a bit soft on the springs in the first two stages this morning. I made them a bit harder for the last stage and it was better."

(Subaru) - eighth, +1m14.6s: "I do need more experience of this rally. I keep losing out on the high-speed stuff. Our tyres were a bit soft for those three (stages) as well."

(Hyundai) - 10th, +2m08.6s: "No real problems, just not enough high-end power. I'm having to change down gear in the high-speed corners to keep the speed."

(Ford) - 11th, +2m15.8s: Paasonen rolled his factory Ford on the first of the day's stages and the car's roof is badly caved in. Co-driver Arto Kapanen said: "At the first left-hand corner on the first stage this morning our tyres were cold and that's why we went off. It hit a big stone and although it looks bad, it's driving OK.

(Hyundai) - 15th, +2m45.3: "We lost boost for three stages - right from first service. It should be showing three bar pressure but it's showing 0.4."
