Duval aiming for top five
Ford driver Francois Duval believes that this weekend's Rally Mexico will be his first real chance of a good result because the event will be new to almost everyone in the field
Belgian Duval is one of the least experienced factory World Rally Championship drivers but is still aiming for a top five finish in his Ford Focus RS WRC 03. Only Peugeot's Harri Rovanpera has taken in the event before - he won it in 2002, running as part of the FIA's evaluation of the Rally Mexico.
"Because of this, I think that as long as we don't have any problems or make any mistakes, it is possible for us to finish inside the top five," said Duval.
He added that he has spent the last few nights sitting in a sauna to try and get used to the intense heat he will experience in the cockpit of the Focus in Mexico. "By preparing in this way, the heat and fatigue in the car won't be a problem for me," he explained.
Leg one of Rally Mexico gets underway at 0900 local time in the town of Leon.
