Day 3am: Loeb holds on

Citroen's Sebastien Loeb has maintained his advantage on the Rally of Turkey after setting the joint-fastest time on SS15 - the short 5.6km Aspendos 1 stage. The Frenchman heads Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm in the overall standings with just two stages left to run

Loeb's bid to win his fourth rally of the season was given an overnight boost when the Frenchman had his 10s penalty removed following an examination of television pictures of the stage by the Clerk of the Course. Loeb was handed the penalty on SS9 when he was deemed to have jumped the start.

With Loeb given back the 10s, Gronholm had much to do and began the second day in hot pursuit of Loeb shaving 5.9s off the Frenchman's lead on SS14, the first stage of the third and final day. The Finn had closed to within 20s of Loeb but was unable to eat into the lead on the second stage as Loeb turned the heat on to jointly win the stage with Subaru's Petter Solberg.

The Norwegian lies third overall in the standings with Citroen's Carlos Sainz in fourth ahead of Ford's Francois Duval. Subaru's Mikko Hirvonen rounds out the top six.
