Clark lands Munchi's drive for Jordan

Scotsman Barry Clark has been handed the opportunity of a lifetime, getting to drive the second Munchi's World Rally Team car after Luis Perez Companc was forced to return to Argentine on business

Clark had arrived in Jordan to work as a mechanic on Companc's Ford Focus RS WRC 07.

Clark, the reigning Fiesta SportingTrophy International Champion, first drove a Focus at the Chatsworth Rallyday last year and has tackled pre-event shakedown work for the factory Ford team, but this will be the first time he has competed at the highest level in a front-line car.

"It's amazing," said Clark. "I couldn't believe it when I arrived. I'd had a call from Malcolm [Wilson, Munchi's WRT principal] to explain the situation. He said there was a chance I could be driving. But to get here and be told I would be driving was just incredible."

As part of his prize for winning the Fiesta series, Clark will contest a three-round WRC programme with the Munchi's team - starting in Turkey. He will be co-driven by Jose Dias, Munchi's stand-in navigator.

Wilson said: "This is a good chance for Barry to get familiar with the car before Turkey. But it will be a tricky rally - particularly as he did not do the recce. I'm sure he'll just go out and use this as a high-speed recce and as a chance to get some experience of the car."
