Citroen set for AUTOSPORT show

Motorsport fans will have their first chance to see the 2003 Citroen Xsara WRC at the AUTOSPORT International show at Birmingham's NEC in January

The French manufacturer has confirmed that it will be in attendance at the event for the first time. The show runs from January 9 to 12.

Meanwhile, new team driver Carlos Sainz has spoken of his high hopes for next season after being confirmed in Citroen's line-up on Monday. The Spaniard joins former Ford team-mate Colin McRae and Frenchman Sebastien Loeb in a three-car attack. The season marks Citroen's first full World Rally Championship campaign.

Sainz told wrc.com: "I can't talk about the car, but let's say I am happy with it. I don't think Citroen expected to run three cars so they have had to restructure the team to fit me in. But I am very happy with this deal. I hope we can take the car forward. I can't wait to get going."

The two-time world champion will be gunning for victories from the first event, the Monte Carlo Rally on January 22-26. He has won the famous event three times in the past.

"It's always possible to win Monte Carlo - it's an event I have got a good feeling with," he said. "And it's good to have Colin in the team. We know each other well and we know how each other works. I've known him for many years now."
