Citroen reveals its new C4
Citroen has taken the covers off its long-awaited successor to the Xsara WRC today (Tuesday). The C4 WRC was driven around a test track near Versailles in France by one of the team's test engineers as it begins its development process
The C4 is set to replace Citroen's Xsara model in the World Rally Championship from the 2006 season onwards, but is likely to make its debut towards the end of next year on selected events. Citroen did not reveal any details of today's test, but it is understood that many of the car's parts have already either been benchmarked or evaluated in the existing Xsara model.
Citroen currently heads the constructors' table in this season's championship while driver Sebastien Loeb is enjoying a healthy 30-point lead in the drivers' standings. The Frenchman and team-mate Carlos Sainz, who were both still on their way back from Rally Japan when today's initial run took place, are expected to get their hands on the C4 within the next three weeks.
