Citroen hints at seat share

Citroen team boss Guy Frequelin has admitted that the team is considering running different drivers alongside world champion Sebastien Loeb next year instead of finding a full-time replacement for the outgoing Carlos Sainz

Frequelin confirmed the team was interested in Ford's Francois Duval, but admitted that the Belgian was not the only driver on the French squad's list.

"For sure Francois is on the list, but he's not the only one," Frequelin told Autosport magazine. "It may not be only one driver. We could have two or even three drivers to go with Sebastien. There are many possibilities. For me, the best replacement for Carlos would be Carlos. Sebastien is more easily satisfied. With Carlos, everything had to be perfect. This was a big motivation for the team."

Frequelin admitted that he was surprised by Sainz's decision and hoped the veteran would change his mind.

"When he told me his decision, I didn't believe him," Frequelin said. "He had told me before he would retire and then changed his mind. When I spoke to him the day after he announced his retirement, I said, 'I think you regret it now.' And he replied, 'Yes, Guy, I do, but the decision is made.'"
