Bugalski strikes back on stage 12

Philippe Bugalski responded to Didier Auriol's challenge on stage 12 of the Rallye Catalunya, setting fastest stage time and extending his lead to 19 seconds. Auriol and Toyota team mate Carlos Sainz remain 2nd and 3rd

Tommi Makinen was also making progress after his jump start penalty and is now only 12s behind 4th placed team mate Freddy Loix. Adruzilo Lopes has now moved up to 8th overall after a very quick time in his Peugeot 306, 5th fastest on the stage. Lopes is now ahead of Richard Burns and only 2s behind Juha Kankkunen. Skoda's Armin Schwarz slipped back however and is now 10th overall.

Colin McRae's recovery drive continues, his Ford Focus is now up to 19th position.
