Audio: Burns determined to take title

Richard Burns set out his stall for the final two events of the 2000 World Rally Championship, and the British driver is highly focused on clinching his first title

Speaking to Radio Autosport on Tuesday night, the Subaru driver said: "There's an air of confidence. I've got a lot of hunger, I've got a lot of - not anger -- but motivation to do a good job on these next two rallies."

The two events, in Australia and Britain, are all that's left to determine the outcome of the series, and Burns -- still second in the standings -- has already put the disappointment of retirement from San Remo behind him.

"It wasn't the best event for us, but we came out of it fairly well considering what happened to the rest of the guys."

Asked by Radio Autosport presenter John Hindhaugh if he still felt confident, Burns said: "I just have it in my head at the moment that I cannot envisage anyone else winning the World Championship, and that's what I'm going to keep in my head.

"I've got a lot of hunger," he continued, "I've got a lot of -- not anger -- but motivation to do a good job on these next two rallies. They're both gravel, both fast, the only difference is one is wet and one is dry!

There are five drivers still in contention for the title, but Burns isn't worried about who he will be up against should it go to the wire. "I really don't care who it is, because I'm going to beat them..."
