Citroen driver Sebastien Ogier believes a top-10 finish is still possible on Rally Australia
The Frenchman retired from the opening day when he damaged the radiator on his DS3 WRC in an accident on the sixth stage. The team fixed the car overnight and he started the second day in 16th position, 11 minutes adrift of 10th-placed Benito Guerra. By the end of the 17th stage today, Ogier was up to 12th and less than three minutes from a drivers' point.
"I have to keep pushing," he said. "I think it's possible for 10th place and maybe some more points, but I have to push hard. I am going at 100 per cent for th
place and also I will be pushing for the powerstage on Sunday."
Ogier admitted the road had not cleaned as much as he thought it would through the morning.
"It's definitely better to be first on the road," he said, "but it's not so much. It's difficult to gain an advantage over the Fords even from seventh on the road. The stage is nice, though, it's very enjoyable to drive - it's just a shame for what happened yesterday.
"I have to thank the team for everything they did yesterday, they made a great job for the car."
