Ogier boosted by asphalt progress

Citroen driver Sebastien Ogier is pleased with the progress he has made on asphalt rounds of the World Rally Championship

The Frenchman collected fourth on last week's Rally Bulgaria despite only ever having driven a World Rally Car twice on asphalt previously.

Despite such a lack of asphalt competition, the 26-year-old Ogier briefly ran second to Sebastien Loeb on the opening day of Rally Bulgaria, but then went off the road for one minute on the third day.

"It's always a bit frustrating to do a mistake," said Ogier, "but I have moved on now. Bulgaria was an interesting rally, but the result was not very good. For a competitive driver, finishing fourth - just off the podium - is never very good.

"But, I feel more confident and I am very confident in the car. I feel good in the car and this was only my third asphalt rally.

"The progress was good in Bulgaria and being able to fight with Dani Sordo and Petter [Solberg] is very good at this point for me, it means I am going in the right way. Now I want to go to the next asphalt rally and continue to fight with these two guys."

In the meantime, Ogier will make his debut with the Citroen Total World Rally Team alongside Sebastien Loeb at Rally Finland later this month.

With Sordo having run alongside Loeb for the last four years, Ogier will be Loeb's first new team-mate in the factory Citroen squad since Francois Duval in 2005.
