Solberg eyeing Rally GB victory
Petter Solberg says he now has his best chance to win a World Rally Championship round since 2004
The Norwegian, who lost his full-time drive when Subaru withdrew from the WRC at the end of last season, will drive a Citroen C4 WRC in anger for the first time on this week's Catalunya Rally.
But it is the final WRC round of the season - Rally GB, which follows a fortnight later in which the 2003 world champion is targeting victory.
Solberg completed 250km of asphalt testing in two days over the weekend and is delighted to be starting the Salou event in a C4.
"This is the closest I have been [to winning] since 2004," he said. "I had great cars to drive in 2001, 02, 03 and 04, but since then it was difficult - until now! I'm so excited about this car. It's the philosophy of the car, everything feels right - I'm just going to get in it and drive.
"Of course I can't wait to drive in Spain, but this event is for fun. Let me learn the car here and then Rally GB is where I want to focus. I will push hard there, that's where I want to fight properly."
Solberg has won Rally GB four times, while he has only won one asphalt rally - in Corsica - in his career.
