Robert Kubica eyes style and note change after run of WRC shunts

Robert Kubica is hoping to add an extra test to his schedule to practice a new driving style and method of making pace notes after recent World Rally Championship accidents

While the Polish star has shown exceptional pace since his switch to a World Rally Car on last year's Rally GB, he has suffered a strong of accidents, including two more rolls in Mexico last week.

Rally Mexico report

Kubica feels he now needs to make changes to his style and notes before next month's Rally Portugal.

"I started very well in Monte Carlo," said the reigning WRC2 champion told AUTOSPORT.

"I knew it would be difficult at the start of the year.

"I know what I have to do and I have to work on my notes in the narrow sections of stages, this is where my notes are not ideal."

Kubica's original test schedule for the year did not include any pre-Portugal running, but the M-Sport team is now trying to find the right road for a session.

"My notes are working well on Tarmac, but not so well on gravel," Kubica said.

"We will make changes to make me feel more comfortable and I will have to adjust my driving style, which is not an easy thing to do.

I have to remember that I don't have so much experience of this kind of [narrow] road."
