Smith praise for Kristensen

Guy Smith has praised seven-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Tom Kristensen while speaking at the Autosport International Show

Smith, who partnered the Dane on the way to victory in the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours, says that Kristensen has got his reward for his efforts to become the driver with the most Le Mans 24 Hours victories of all time.

Smith will drive for Dyson in the American Le Mans Series this year, while Kristensen will spearhead Audi's Diesel powered R10 project.

"Tom Kristensen has a remarkable record at Le Mans," Smith said. "There are lots of factors as to why brilliant driver and he works hard. People don't realise just how hard he works. He has put himself into such a position where you can be in the best car.

"It is going to be interesting to see how he goes. Peugeot have launched their diesel car, and they can put it in first gear and he won't have to change again it has so much torque. It is going to be very interesting."
