H20: Wurz, Sarrazin maintain gap

Rain is forecast before the end of the race and sporadic spots have fallen over the pits and Mulsanne Straight, but for now the weather is holding off.

Stephane Sarrazin, on board the #8 car, had been closing in on the leader throughout the early hours of the morning, but Wurz has matched his team-mate's times throughout the last hour and a half to stabilise the gap.

The pair are matching each other to within a couple of tenths of a second each lap, with the gap static at 1m48s, while Allan McNish is actually lapping quicker in the third-placed #1 Audi.

The Scot has just set the #1 car's fastest lap of the race so far, although he is two laps adrift of the Peugeots.

Tomas Enge has taken over the #007 Lola Aston Martin from Jan Charouz and is still in a comfortable fourth place, with Olivier Panis fifth in the #11 ORECA.

Nicolas Prost is sixth in the Speedy Sebah Lola Aston, ahead of Charles Zwolsman aboard the two-man #14 Kolles Audi R10, while the #7 Peugeot is now back up to eighth place.

Emmanuel Collard retains Team Essex's three-lap lead in the LMP2 class over the Team Goh Porsche.

Olivier Beretta has stretched 17 seconds clear of team-mate Johnny O'Connell as the two factory Corvettes continue their domination of GT1.

Mika Salo is now aboard the Risi Ferrari at the head of GT2, with a two-lap lead over Fabio Babini in the #92 BMS Scuderia Italia 430. Ferrari now holds a 1-2-3 in the class, with the JMW car in third.
