Grapevine: McNish scoops BRDC awards
Le Mans 24 Hours winner Allan McNish received the BRDC ACO Plate at an awards ceremony in London today, to add to the British Competition Driver of the Year award he picked up at Sunday's Autosport Awards
The BRDC ACO Plate is presented annually to the highest-placed British driver in the Le Mans 24 Hours and McNish took his second outright victory in the race this year. He was presented with the award by his Audi teammate Tom Kristensen.
McNish was also given the BRDC's Silverstone - Le Mans Challenge Award, for the drivers with the highest combined results from the Silverstone Le Mans Series race and the 24 Hours.
"I'm extremely proud to have claimed these awards, especially after this year's Le Mans which was one of the best races in recent history - and definitely the hardest fought for a decade - while winning at Silverstone was very satisfying," said McNish.
"But these Awards are as much for our guys at Audi Sport and Joest Racing as they are for me. Dindo, Tom and I were only one part of a great team."
