Asian Le Mans Series dates announced

Le Mans organiser the ACO has confirmed that its new Asian Le Mans Series will launch this winter, with a pair of double-header events at Okayama and Shanghai

Each meeting will consist of two three-hour races, with the first rounds sharing the bill with the World Touring Car Championship at sometime Pacific Grand Prix venue Okayama in Japan on 30 October and 1 November. The Asian LMS then moves to Chinese GP track Shanghai for another two races a week later.

The ACO will also provide "preferential travel conditions" for ten Le Mans Series teams and ten from the American Le Mans Series, plus four squads from Japan and China, in a bid to get a strong mix of established sportscar squads and local outfits for the races.

The champions from all four classes of the Asian series will receive invitations to the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Entries for the Asian LMS open today, with a final entry list set to be announced at the end of April.
