ACO unveils provisional entry list

Le Mans organisers have unveiled the first 38 entries for this year's running of the 24 Hour classic

Organisers have received 79 entries for the 50 available spots at the race.

The list of the first 38 cars selected does not include Audi's new R10 diesel car. The team is, however, expected to join the next batch of entries added to the list, because Le Mans organisers, the ACO, traditionally like to see a car race before confirming it.

The R10 will make its debut at the Sebring 12 Hours on March 18, and the ACO will release their final entry list afterwards.

Fifteen entries were automatically awarded following results in last year's race and affiliated series the Le Mans Series and the American Le Mans Series. The rest of the entries take into account commitments made by the teams to be in those series this season.
