Audi stays on top in final practice

Timo Bernhard continued Audi's dominance of the Spa 1000km weekend by going quickest in the final practice for the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup at the Belgian circuit

Bernhard, who is sharing his new R18 TDI with Mike Rockenfeller and Romain Dumas, leapt to the top of the timesheets during the second half of the session with a lap in 2m02.697s - the fastest of the weekend.

Andre Lotterer was 0.309s slower in the second of the Audis, the one he shares with Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler, while the best of the Peugeots, the Simon Pagenaud/Sebastien Bourdais/Pedro Lamy car, which has been rebuilt since its heavy Friday crash, was 1.8s back in third.

The Audi and Peugeot crews filled out the top seven places - the ORECA 908 ahead of the factory car of Stephane Sarrazin/Franck Montagny/Nicolas Minassian.

The Rebellion Lola of Nicolas Prost/Neel Jani was the best of the petrol-powered prototypes in eighth while the Pecom Lola of Pierre Kaffer/Matias Russo/Luis Perez Companc set the pace in LMP2 in 14th overall.

Porsche closed the gap to Ferrari in GT2 Pro as the Marc Lieb/Richard Lietz Felbermayr car was second - just 0.1s adrift of the pace-setting AF Corse Ferrari of Gimmi Bruni/Giancarlo Fisichella. The best BMW was fifth in the hands of Augusto Farfus/Jorg Muller.

IMSA Porsche duo Nicolas Armindo/Raymond Narac were comfortably clear at the top of the GT2 Am times while the Hope Racing line-up of Luca Moro/Nicolas Marroc/Zhang Shanqi set the pace in Formula Le Mans.

The session was red-flagged for 15 minutes at its mid-point when Robert Kauffman crashed his GT2 Am class AF Corse Ferrari at high speed at Eau Rouge, while a second stoppage - this time to allow marshals to work on a piece of damaged kerb at Fagnes, brought the session to a premature end.
