Millennium Racing aims to compete in second half of 2014 WEC season

Millennium Racing is still aiming to compete in the second half of this season's World Endurance Championship, despite its absence from the entry list for next month's Austin round

The LMP2 team, which is run by the British Delta-ADR squad, missed the opening three rounds of the series after the funding from its investment partners failed to come through.

Team boss Simon Dowson confirmed that the funding is not yet in place for the team to contest the final five WEC races, but explained that he is hopeful that it will arrive in time for one car to take part in each of the remaining races.

"There has been progress since earlier in the year and we are hopeful of a resolution within the next couple of weeks," he told AUTOSPORT.

"We haven't given up on Austin and we really want to be there, but we would need the situation to sort itself out this week."

Millennium is only aiming to run one car over the remainder of the WEC season "to make sure that we can put on a proper show," Dowson said.

"The difficulties the team has experienced so far the year mean we need a concentrated effort when we do get out.

"The car is sat here ready to go, we provisionally have some testing booked and we are comfortable organising our own freight [rather than transporting the car on the WEC package]."

The solo Millennium car, its #22 entry, will be driven by John Martin, Oliver Turvey and Fabien Giroix.

Millennium Racing, which planned to contest some GT3 events this year, is also listed on the entry for the Dubai 24 Hours next January with two slots for unconfirmed cars and drivers.

AUSTIN GRID GROWS TO 29 ENTRIES

The US Krohn Racing team, which raced in the WEC in 2012-13, will contest its home event at Austin with a GTE Am Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Niclas Jonsson, Ben Collins and Tracy Krohn.

The addition of the Krohn Ferrari and solo entries from Corvette Racing and Extreme Speed Motorsports bring the entry for Austin to 29 cars.

The Lotus-AER P1/01 privateer LMP1 will be raced by James Rossiter, Christophe Bouchut and one driver who has yet to be nominated.

Experienced US racer Jeff Segal joins the AF Corse-run 8Star Motorsports squad in the seat in which team owner Enzo Potolicchio started the season.

Potolicchio, who missed the Le Mans 24 Hours because he was unable to leave the US while applying for a green card, is not planning to rejoin Paolo Ruberti and Gianluca Roda in the car this season.
