Toyota enters two cars for Bahrain WEC round
Toyota has entered two cars for the final round of the World Endurance Championship in Bahrain at the end of this month
The Japanese manufacturer made a late call to field a second TS030 HYBRID at this weekend's Shanghai event and has now extended that decision to the series finale at the Bahrain International Circuit on November 30.
A spokesman for Toyota Motorsport GmbH, which masterminds the TS030 programme, said: "We have entered two cars, which will be on the provisional entry list for Bahrain."
He said that the "hope and expectation" was that Toyota would have two cars in Bahrain, but that the move was dependent on the two TS030s coming through Saturday's Shanghai 6 Hours without major problems.
Toyota had planned to downscale its WEC assault to one car after the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, with the exception of its home event at Fuji in October.
That plan changed over the course of the Fuji event, at which high-ranking Toyota officials were present, and was announced on the eve of the manufacturer's first WEC victory of the season in the rain-affected race.
Kazuki Nakajima, who is racing in the Super Formula finale at Suzuka this weekend, is scheduled to return to the cockpit of the #7 Toyota at Bahrain alongside Alex Wurz and Nicolas Lapierre.
