New European Le Mans Series GTE class champion Johnny Mowlem will return to the Alex Job Racing squad for the Petit Le Mans enduro on October 19,
The 44-year-old Briton, who claimed the ELMS title sharing a Ram Racing Ferrari 458 Italia with Matt Griffin, has been called up to drive The Team West/AJR Ferrari in the American Le Mans Series finale at Road Atlanta in place of Townsend Bell.
The deal, which teams Mowlem with Bill Sweedler and Leh Keen, marks a return to AJR for Mowlem a year on from an outing in the squad's Lotus Evora GTE in the same fixture.
Bell, who has raced the AJR Ferrari with Sweedler all season, is unavailable courtesy of his TV commitments with NBC at the Fontana IndyCar Series finale on the same weekend.
Team boss Alex Job said: "We had to find another driver. Johnny has spent the whole year in a Ferrari and we know him from Petit last year, so he is a good fit."
Mowlem explained the offer from AJR came out of the blue when he was driving for Dyson Racing in the Virginia ALMS round last weekend.
"Alex came up and asked what I was doing for Petit," he explained. "It's always good to race at Road Atlanta."
Other additional drivers in the GT ranks for the 1000-mile event include factory Porsche driver Nick Tandy, who returns to the Team Falken Tire Porsche 911 GT3-RSR alongside Bryan Sellers and Wolf Henzler.
Emmanuel Collard, outright winner of the inaugural Petit Le Mans in 1998, will share the Paul Miller Racing Porsche with Marco Holzer and Bryce Miller two years on from his previous outing with the team.
