Tom Kimber-Smith extends Greaves World Endurance programme

British sportscar racer Tom Kimber-Smith is set to contest a minimum of five of the eight World Endurance Championship rounds with the Greaves Motorsport LMP2 squad

The 2011 European Le Mans Series champion had already been confirmed for the Silverstone and Le Mans 24 Hours rounds in the team's Zytek-Nissan Z11SN.

The team has now revealed that he will also contest the Spa event in May alongside Christian Zugel and Eric Lux.

It is then likely that the 28-year-old, who will also drive in eight American Le Mans Series races in CORE Autosport's new Porsche 911 GT3-RSR, will remain with the team alongside different team-mates in the following two rounds of the WEC in Brazil and the USA.

Team owner Tim Greaves, whose team took Kimber-Smith to the 2011 ELMS title, said: "Tom will be driving more than two races with us. We have signed him up, but we will defer to CORE because that is his primary programme this year."

Kimber-Smith is racing for Greaves in this weekend's Sebring 12 Hours

"My year is starting to get busy, which is good," he said. "Considering where I was three years ago [after contesting only two races in 2009-10], this is pretty amazing."

The Briton has also picked up a couple of Grand-Am drives with the 8Star Motorsports squad: he will drive the team's Coyote-Chevrolet Daytona Prototype at the Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen rounds in May.

Greaves explained that his team was likely to have a "patchwork programme" in 2013, with the seats in its regular WEC entry being shared out between different drivers after Le Mans.

He also said that a second WEC entry was possible in selected races, including Spa and Austin, and explained that the team at present has no drivers for the Zytek it has entered in the European Le Mans Series.
