Dindo Capello relaxed about final Le Mans outing

The three-time winner of the 24 Hours is joining regular team-mates Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish in the #2 Audi for the final time this weekend.

"At the moment, I do not think too much about that," Capello told AUTOSPORT. "Probably from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday next week, something will change.

"But at the moment, I just want to be focused on this race. I know that it will probably be my last Le Mans in a prototype. But I'm mentally prepared for that. I'm relaxed from one side, focused on scoring a great result on the other side.

"I know myself. I know that in difficult situations, I'm mentally quite strong at forgetting the negative and just bringing up the positive things. At the moment, I just see positive things. Next week probably I will feel the negatives more. But I know that I have a lot to do."

Capello added that the fact this was his Le Mans finale did not make this weekend's race any more important, as he feels he has achieved enough in his career regardless of what the 2012 event brings.

"I was very lucky to extend my career until now, I think," he said. "I've had great results in my career: at the moment three times Le Mans winner, five at Sebring, five Petit [Le Mans], the most victories in the American Le Mans Series, pole position here at Le Mans three times. I think I have a CV which gives me nothing to regret.

"The only thing I would like to cancel from my career is the bad birthday I had in 2007, when we were leading. It was June 17 like it will be on Sunday. We were leading by almost four laps. And suddenly five hours before the end of the race, we lost a wheel at Indianapolis.

"That is something that I would really like to forget. Probably Sunday will be the right day to forget it and get back what I lost in 2007."

The #2 Audi crew will start this weekend's race from fourth place in their e-tron.
