16h40m Replays show that Magnussen lost control of the leading Corvette and got a huge slide going, which he couldn't control. He speared into the side of the Porsche, damaging both heavily as they spun into the wall.
16h41m Peugeot is getting ready for stops this time round, as the field continues under the control of the safety cars.
16h42m Toni Vilander in the #51 is now shown at the GTE Pro leader as the pack forms up behind the safety cars once again.
16h42m Rescue vehicles and marshals are down at the end of the lap as the clear-up operation begins.
16h43m The #74 Corvette is still beached in the gravel at this time.
16h43m Now the #9 Peugeot pits from the lead. Bourdais climbs out and Simon Pagenaud gets in.
16h45m Tyres and fuel for the #9 and Pagenaud is away after a lengthy delay. He will trundle to the end of the pitlane and be held until the next safety car train comes through.
16h46m Meantime, the crashed #74 Corvette is being towed away from the crash scene.
16h47m The #9 is allowed to leave the pits and resumes behind a small pack of cars following the next safety car.
16h49m At the head of the race, #7 Peugeot leads the #2 Audi by six seconds, as they tour round behind the same safety car.
16h50m The #74 Corvette has been pulled to the side of the track but is still a few hundred metres away from the pits.
16h50m Jan Magnussen is thoughtfully looking at the damage but it doesn;t look good.
16h52m The #56 BMW pits as the snake passes the start-finish line. Driver change for that car on this occasion.
16h53m Andy Priaulx is in that car and he is held at the end of the pitlane, waiting for the smaller safety car train to come past.
16h54m The second smaller snake of cars passes by band Priaulx is allowed back onto the circuit.
16h54m Peugeot has tweeted that the delay to the pitstop for car #9 was due to a change of radio.
16h55m Car #33 is in the pits now and Christophe Bouchut remains at the controls.
16h56m The #33 Level 5 Motorsports entry now lies third in LMP2.
16h57m Christian Reid has been taken on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance after that heavy crash with Magnussen's #74 Corvette.
16h58m Meantime, a flatbed truck has now arrived on the scene to take away the #63 Porsche.
16h59m The #2 Audi comes into the pits and Lotterer stops for service.
17h00m Lotterer climbs out of the car and Benoit Treluyer takes over at the controls. Four tyres, fuel and he is heading to the end of the pitlane.
17h01m The safety car train is now passing the pits. Treluyer is then released and he joins the back of the snake.
17h02m Down in the pits, we've spoken with Oliver Gavin who says the former GTE Pro leader - #74 Corvette - is stranded on track and beyond repair.
17h04m The safety car will pit at the end of this lap.
17h05m Peugeot is ready to receive the #7 car in the pits next time by.

17h06m Alex Wurz climbs aboard the #7 car.
17h07m The safety car comes into the pitlane and we are racing once again.
17h08m The two Peugeots are forced to wait until the cars come past - this time at racing speed - before they are released back onto the circuit.
17h09m With those stops, the #2 Audi takes over once again at the head of the race, with Treluyer behind the wheel.
17h09m Oh we have a spin for the #35 Oak Racing entry at Indianapolis.
17h10m Frederic da Rocha spun backwards onto the grass after the exit of the corner on cold tyres and has stalled the car.
17h11m Marshals are working to try and get the #35 moving again.
17h12m #9 Peugeot leads the race, having passed Treluyer on the restart lap while we were talking about the spin for the #35. But the Audi driver is fighting back and they are separated by less than one second.
17h13m The #7 Peugeot in the hands of Alex Wurz lies third, just seven seconds back.
17h14m Peugeot #8 is fourth but is still one lap down, with the Pescarolo #16 machine seven laps down in fifth place.
17h16m Treluyer is on the tail of Pagenaud as they head into the Mulsanne chicane. He slots back in behind the Peugeot.
17h18m The #8 Peugeot is right with the lead battle, but Sarrazin is one lap down. Slightly further back, the #7 car is third, just seven seconds behind the leading duo.
17h18m Nervous tension on the faces of the team mechanics and the leaders are tied together heading into the Ford chicane!
