Tander takes Barbagallo pole
Toll HSV Dealer Team's Garth Tander secured pole position for the Bigpond 400 at Barbagallo Raceway, his teammate Rick Kelly making it a Toll HSV front row
Tander set a time more than two-tenths faster than teammate Kelly for an all-Holden front row.
Just over three-tenths behind Tander are three cars, Team Vodafone's Craig Lowndes just edging out the Holden Racing Team duo of Mark Skaife and Todd Kelly, Holdens filling four of the top five grid positions.
Despite brake problems sending him into the wall in practice, James Courtney qualified sixth and leads a group of Fords including Will Davison, Steven Johnson and Jamie Whincup.
Still, some of the big names missed the top ten. Tasman Motorsport's Greg Murphy just missed out and will start eleventh, while the Ford Performance Racing machine of Steven Richards will start thirteenth and teammate Mark Winterbottom in fifteenth.
Rookies Shane Price and Jack Perkins showed improvement, Price making the top twenty to qualify in eighteenth while Perkins' best put him 25th.
Jason Bright's weekend was over before qualifying began after an incident in Friday practice left his car too badly damaged to take any further part in the weekend's proceedings.
