Tander on dominant Oran Park pole

Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander has taken a dominant pole position for this weekend's NRMA Motoring & Services Grand Finale at Oran Park

Tander put in a time of 1:09.4562, taking pole position by more than four tenths of a second. Alongside him on the front row will be Team Vodafone's Craig Lowndes.

Sharing the second row will be the two title contenders, Team Vodafone's Jamie Whincup and Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom, Whincup only shading Winterbottom by half a tenth of a second despite fresher tyres.

Supercheap's Russell Ingall will start from fifth, just ahead of Winterbottom's teammate Steven Richards, with James Courtney, Todd Kelly, Lee Holdsworth and Will Davison completing the top ten.

Qualifying just outside the top ten in eleventh is Rick Kelly in what could well be his last drive for the HSV Dealer Team. Two drivers who will not be full-time drivers in V8 Supercar after this weekend are Mark Skaife, who qualified 16th, and Paul Morris, who qualified 21st.

There were two red flags in the first leg of qualifying, brought out by Fabian Coulthard and Paul Dumbrell after offs at the exit of turn one. They will start in 24th and 29th position respectively.
