Skaife dismisses retirement talk
Australian V8 Supercar legend Mark Skaife insists he is not considering retiring from racing
The 40-year-old has won the championship a record-equalling five times and the series blue riband Bathurst 1000 km enduro five times. He is also top of the all-time winners list with 38 round victories.
Skaife currently drives for, runs and owns the Holden Racing Team, and despite not being able to fight for the championship in the last two seasons, he doesn't want to hang up his helmet and concentrate fully on running the works squad just yet.
"I'm still as eager as I was when I was 20, so I'm really looking forward to starting the season," he said.
"I love the challenge and the competition, and having [reigning champion] Garth Tander as my new teammate will be very good for me. I haven't got a timeframe on my retirement, I'll just see how I feel as time goes on.
"Jim Richards was probably the world's best touring car driver in his early 40s. If I'm fit and keen to continue I don't see any reason why I couldn't do three or four more years.
"But I want to do what is right for the team, so that is a balance I will continue to monitor."
