Perkins announces title sponsor
V8 Supercar team owner Larry Perkins has announced Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey will be the naming rights sponsor of his team for the next three years
The announcement comes after Castrol said earlier in the year that it would no longer be the team's naming rights sponsor from the end of the 2005 season, ending a thirteen year association as the team's title sponsor during which the team won three Bathurst 1000s and finished runner-up in the championship four times.
Jack Daniel's sponsorship will see the two-car Holden team of Steven Richards and Paul Dumbrell join the company's move into NASCAR earlier this year, where Dave Blaney drove a Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Richard Childress Racing.
"This is a major coup for our team to bring a completely new sponsor into the V8 Supercar Series," said Perkins. "We have had a solid 2005 season but fighting for the championship in 2006 is without doubt our sole objective."
With the move into V8 Supercar, Jack Daniel's are keen to promote their product while at the same time promoting responsible consumption of it.
"With the NASCAR sponsorship in the U.S, Jack Daniel's branded messaging has focused on responsible drinking," said Jack Daniel's regional director for Australia and New Zealand Michael McShane.
"We plan to implement a similarly effective responsibility message - 'Pace Yourself. Please Drink Responsibly' as our core message in our branding in the V8 Supercar series and, like everything we do, our marketing will be directed to adult audiences of legal drinking age."
