HRT on front row for season opener
Five-time V8 Supercar champion Mark Skaife took pole for the first leg of the Clipsal 500 on the Adelaide Parklands Circuit as Holden dominated qualifying
Skaife leads an all-Holden Racing Team front row after Todd Kelly set the second-best time in the top ten shootout, Holdens filling the top five and eight of the top ten grid positions.
Garth Tander, Jason Richards and Paul Dumbrell continued the Holden rout, with Triple Eight teammates Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes in sixth and seventh the only Ford runners in the top ten.
Reigning series champ Russell Ingall just missed out on the top ten with the eleventh fastest time, while his rookie teammate James Courtney will start seventeenth after showing promising pace in practice, alongside Steven Richards, who many would have expected to make the top ten.
As bad as some drivers' days were, Jason Bright had the worst, crashing into the wall during the second practice session at the sweeper. He was unable to take part in qualifying, and will start last if the crew can repair the car in time.
