Chaz Mostert extends Prodrive Australia V8 Supercars deal to 2019
Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert will remain with Prodrive Racing Australia until at least the end of the 2019 V8 Supercars season
The 23-year-old joined the team when it was known as Ford Performance Racing in late 2011 in the Dunlop Series, and finished third in the second-tier class in 2012.
He graduated to the top flight in early 2013, loaned out to customer squad Dick Johnson Racing - winning a race at Queensland Raceway - before rejoining FPR in 2014.
Mostert won two races, including the chaotic Bathurst 1000 with Paul Morris, on his way to seventh in the standings, and has added a further two to his tally so far this season.
With Ford reducing its support ahead of a total withdrawal at the end of the year, the team has been rebranded, but pushed on with the introduction of a new FG X Falcon.
It is currently the class of the field, with Mark Winterbottom, Mostert and David Reynolds first, third and fourth in the standings.
"I am super-pumped to keep the consistency going with the team and this new deal is me repaying the faith they've shown in me over the last few years," Mostert said.
"I've had a great relationship with everyone at Prodrive Racing since I joined them back in the Dunlop Series days. It is the people that make the team so great.
"There are so many people that have been there for a long time and have a lot of experience, so to continue with them is important.
"Obviously our overall package is performing very well so I want to keep the form going for years to come.
"However, my immediate focus is on continuing our great year - we want the team title and the driver title so hopefully as a team we can get both."
WINTERBOTTOM MARCHES ON
Winterbottom extended his championship lead with a pair of Saturday sprint victories at Queensland Raceway, extending his run to four-straight wins.
As he seeks a first V8 Supercars title, Winterbottom has now won eight of this year's 19 races, and sits 265 points clear of Craig Lowndes at the top of the standings.
Scott McLaughlin led home Lowndes in the opening sprint, while Lowndes was second from Mostert, David Reynolds and Jamie Whincup in race two.
Amid a lean run, six-time champion Whincup is seventh in the championship, 441 points behind Winterbottom.
