Will Davison switches from Erebus to Tekno in V8 Supercars shuffle

Will Davison will switch from the Erebus Mercedes squad to replace the Red Bull-bound Shane van Gisbergen at Tekno Autosports in V8 Supercars next season

The 2009 Bathurst 1000 winner has signed a multi-year deal to join Tekno and drive the team's Triple Eight-built Commodore.

Tekno will become Davison's fifth team in the championship, having also driven for Ford Performance Racing, the Holden Racing Team and Dick Johnson Racing since making his debut in 2006.

Davison was halfway through a four-year deal with Erebus, which will now conclude at the end of this season after the parties reached a "mutual agreement".

He won the second race for a Mercedes in the series earlier this year, at Barbagallo Raceway, and is 16th in the standings.

McLaren GT driver van Gisbergen is seventh, having announced in March that he would join Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes at an expanding Triple Eight.

The 2016 grid started to take shape earlier this month, when Fabian Coulthard confirmed he would leave Brad Jones Racing for a seat at a two-car DJR Team Penske.

Nissan announced on Thursday that James Moffat will leave at the end of the year and he is likely to join Volvo, which has confirmed it is parting company with David Wall.

Tim Slade is set to replace Coulthard at BJR, while the future of David Reynolds - currently third in the standings - is uncertain.

Polesitter at Bathurst earlier this month, Reynolds is out of contract at Prodrive Racing Australia, which has second-tier Dunlop Series leader Cameron Waters waiting in the wings.

"I can tell you my future is not set yet - I'm just hanging around to find out where I can fit into the musical chair game," Reynolds told the V8 Supercars website.

MOFFAT LEADS SURFERS FRIDAY PRACTICE

After announcing he would be finishing his three-year Nissan tenure, Moffat topped the final practice session for this weekend's Gold Coast round.

Moffat's 1m10.7995s was 0.0732s ahead of van Gisbergen, with Lowndes, Nissan team-mate Michael Caruso and Reynolds completing the top fifth.

In his first appearance since breaking his ribs in a pitlane incident in August, James Courtney was eighth, ahead of championship leader Mark Winterbottom.
