Marcus Gronholm confirms Global RallyCross Championship presence

Double World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm has been confirmed alongside British driver David Binks as part of a two-car Best Buy Racing team in the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship

Gronholm, who won three GRC rounds last season, will drive a Ford Fiesta prepared by Olsbergs Motor Sport Evolution on every round of this year's series.

"I am really pleased to be competing in the GRC with Best Buy Mobile and OMSE," said Gronholm, who claimed a silver and bronze medal at X Games 17 in the Fiesta. "I won some races last year, but that is not good enough. I have always wanted to win every time I get in a car and I have some unfinished business in the GRC.

"I have had a demanding fitness routine over the winter and I know OMSE has continued development of the Ford Fiesta. The competition has stepped up both in the Best Buy team and the field in general. I can't wait to take Best Buy Mobile to the top of the podium."

Britain's Binks is no stranger to the GRC, having competed on several rounds last season with his family team. He has also driven alongside Gronholm before, at the Lydden Hill event in Britain last season.

"This is a dream come true for me," said Binks. "The GRC is where everyone wants to be and to partner with Best Buy and OMSE is a great opportunity for me to challenge for wins and ultimately the championship. I will have a little adjustment to US courses and to the jump, but Marcus was a great teammate at Lydden last year and I look forward to working with both him again."

The two Best Buy drivers will face tough competition from Ken Block, who has confirmed his Monster Fiesta will be present throughout the championship as well.

The GRC includes seven rounds, starting in Las Vegas in April. Two rounds are run in conjunction with X Games in Los Angeles on June 30 and July 1.
