Firman to drive A1 car
Former F1 driver Ralph Firman will drive an A1 car at Jerez next week sharing testing duties with the series general manager Stephen Watson
Firman concluded the testing deal when he went to Snetterton on Wednesday where Watson was driving the A1 machine. It was the final day of a testing programme during which the Zytek V8-powered Lola chassis had covered 750 kilometres.
"Ralph brings with him experience from his racing in Formula 1, Formula Nippon and also Le Mans," said Watson. "His feedback will be invaluable to us and I look forward to working with him."
The four-day Jerez test will begin on Monday August 23 with Watson carrying out duties on the first day while Firman will take over for the remaining three days.
"The chance to be involved with the A1 grand prix project was a great opportunity for me," Firman said. "Stephen has brought me up-to-date with the work he has done so far, and now I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the car in Jerez. It has all the right ingredients to be a very successful racing car and I am sure will be fun to drive."
