World Champions reunite for Goodwood feast
Six Formula 1 World Champions head a stellar line-up of drivers and cars at this weekend's eighth Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Sir Jack Brabham, Phil Hill, John Surtees, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alan Jones and Damon Hill are the sextet of champions past, and they'll be joined by the likes of Sir Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, Johnny Herbert, Jenson Button, Jean Alesi and Richard Burns, to merely name a few.
The theme of this year's festival is Champions and Challengers, which offers carte blanche to Lord March and his team to assemble possibly the most mouth-watering selection of machinery seen at Goodwood House so far.
Highlights include 'Emmo' at the wheel of a JPS Lotus 72 for the first time since 1973, 'Jonesy' in his 1980 title-winning FW07B and spotlights on Jaguar and March. But to pick out any individual machine or marque is to miss the point - the place is brimming with Formula 1, Sportscar and rally machinery from every era, plus some classic US heavy metal.
It's visual overload in a beautiful setting., and the cars (and bikes) aren't just static exhibits - over 200 will battle to set fastest time of the day on the Freddie March hillclimb course, including hill record-holder Nick Heidfeld.
