Picchio pledge support for British SR2
The planned British series for SR2 sports-prototypes has been supported by Italian manufacturer Picchio, leading SR2 exponents in the Sportscar World Cup. The British Racing Drivers' Club has floated the idea of running a championship for the lower class of sports-prototypes in Britain next season
Picchio boss Francesco di Pietrantonio said: 'A championship for SR2 cars in Britain is an excellent idea. We would like to find a team to run our cars with a works deal, with a view to selling customer versions.
'The sportscar scene is stagnant in Italy. England is an exciting market.'
