Brundle to drive in Rally of Great Britain

Former F1 ace Martin Brundle will drive a Toyota Corolla in this year's Rally of Great Britain

The 40-year-old will line up in a third WRC Corolla alongside regular drivers Carlos Sainz and Didier Auriol.

The former Benetton and Ligier star drove for the Japanese marque in the 1998 and 1999 Le Mans 24-Hours.

'I can't wait and am delighted to be doing the rally with Toyota, with whom I have very strong links,' said the ITV commentator, who competed in the Rally GB in 1996.

'Racing and rallying are about as opposite disciplines as you can get, but I've driven just about everything out there and am pretty adaptable.

'When I competed in 1996, getting the speed wasn't a problem - keeping it on the road was more of a challenge.

'I've driven Formula One cars around Monaco and it's pretty thrilling going into Casino Square at 180mph.

'The Welsh forests are a match for that. The mileage I did last time was some of the best motoring I've done in my life - it blew my mind and that's what's driving me to go back, especially as it's a top car.'

His co-driver for the event - which starts on November 21 - will be Swede and four-time Rally GB winner, Arne Hertz.
