Wallace on pole at Thunder Valley

This weekend's visit to the to the Bristol Motor Speedway, is the first of two in the Winston Cup Series.
The weather this morning included some light showers, calm winds, temperatures in the low 60s and high humidity creating some fog.
The forecast is expected to improved for this afternoon, but there
is still an 80% chance of rain.
Wallace captured the Bud Pole Award on Friday afternoon with a record-setting lap around the 0.533-mile high banked speedway in 15.333 seconds, an average speed of 125.142 mph.
Gordon, still hurting from the accident he suffered at Texas Motor Speedway two weekends ago, performed well to line up on the outside of Wallace.
Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, Bobby Labonte, who is still recovering from a broken shoulder blade, and Raybestos Rookie contender Tony Stewart make up Row two.
Ricky Rudd, finally gets a break in a young season so far filled with
disappointment, will line up behind Labonte on the grid. Younger Wallace brother, Kenny, will take the green from the 6th spot.
In second-round qualifying yesterday, John Andretti was fastest among the drivers making a second attempt and improved over his Friday lap that put him at 39th fastest. He will start 26th, followed by Joe Nemechek (45th), Kevin Lepage (37th) and Dick Trickle (36th).
