Texas: Kenseth takes second win
Rain on Sunday meant the start of the Samsung/RadioShack 500 at the Texas Speedway was delayed until today (Monday), but it was worth the wait as Matt Kenseth drove a storming race - coming from the back of the field - to claim his second win of the season
The Ford driver made the decisive move on lap 312 of the 334-lap race, passing Jeff Green for the lead that he would hold until the chequered flag. Jeff Gordon battled his way into second place and finished just a second behind the winner. Mark Martin made it a great day for Roush by taking the final podium slot.
In the early stages of the race, Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd were dominant, but both drivers hit trouble. Rudd lost time with a sticking throttle, while Jarrett ran out of fuel just prior to his pitstop and lost two laps.
In even worse shape was Dale Earnhardt Jr who crashed out of the race on lap 192. Rookie of the Year contender Ryan Newman was another retirement with engine failure.
Series leader Sterling Marlin finished back in seventh place and his lead over Kenseth in the championship standings has been reduced to just 70 points.
