Speed takes another ARCA pole

Former Formula One racer Scott Speed claimed his third pole position of the season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Pocono Raceway

The 25-year-old claimed his second pole of the season at the 2.5-mile tri-oval, where he had already been fastest in qualifying in June. Justin Allgaier, who was his main rival for victory last week at Berlin Speedway, will start alongside him on the front row.

"We unloaded great off the truck," said Speed. "I honestly don't feel any pressure or anything like that. We've gotten ourselves into a few situations that really weren't our fault and they have affected the points but you can't let that get to you.

"We didn't really make a lot of changes or anything like that in practice. I took what I remembered in June and applied it today. We should be real good in the race tomorrow."

Speed's pole gives him 15 extra points that allow him to close even more on championship leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr, who sits now only 40 points ahead of him before Saturday's race at Pocono.

The Californian, who competes for Eddie Sharp Racing driving the No.2 Red Bull Toyota Camry, has won the last two races at Kentucky and Berlin Speedway and also leads the series in number of poles.
