Schrader joins Haas CNC for Talladega

NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader will drive the No. 70 Haas CNC car at the next Sprint Cup Series round at Talladega Superspeedway, team officials announced on Wednesday

Schrader has been driving for BAM Racing this season, making only a number of starts due to the limited schedule the team is currently running. As he wasn't scheduled to drive for BAM at Talladega, Haas CNC has taken on his services for that event.

"I'm definitely very excited about the opportunity to drive for Haas CNC Racing," Schrader said. "It is a younger team that is going through the growing process but yet has all of the elements in place.

"The team has an outstanding relationship with Hendrick Motorsports, and we know they have a proven engine program. We certainly don't have to second guess the equipment."

Schrader will be the third different driver in the car in the past three events. Jeremy Mayfield drove it at Texas before parting ways with the team after struggling in the first seven events, while Scott Riggs replaced him at Phoenix last week finishing 37th.

The team, which runs engines supplied by Hendrick Motorsports, has their No. 70 car currently outside of the top 35 in the owners' standing, while their other entry driven by Scott Riggs, sits 28th in the points.
