Martin to use back-up car after crash
Mark Martin will using his back up car for this evening's Daytona 400 Winston Cup race, after crashing during practice
Martin qualified third fastest with a 46.302 second lap around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway tri-oval on Wednesday evening.
He was also fastest during the second practice session yesterday afternoon, clocking in at 46.704 seconds.
But last night during the final practice session, the right front tyre on the number 6 Valvoline Eagle One Ford Taurus let go as Martin entered Turn 3.
The car slammed hard into the wall before being clipped by David Green.
Martin's left wrist was injured and has been splinted.
'I hit the wall about as hard as I've ever tangled with it,' said Martin, who also received a minor injury to his left leg.
'I'm a little bit sore, but I'm going to be okay. We had a fabulous car.
'I know I'll drive tomorrow. If they were starting in five minutes, I'd line up and go.'
