Martin takes 30th Busch pole

Mark Martin already holds the record for most pole positions in the NASCAR Busch series, and tonight he extended his tally to thirty

Martin after dominated qualifying for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway, and he ended up as the only driver to lap over 192mph, with fellow 'Buschwacker' Kyle Busch taking the second spot.

Juan Pablo Montoya, in his second Busch appearance, qualified tenth - probably better than he expected after a difficult time throughout practice.

Montoya, who last week finished eleventh in his debut NASCAR race at Memphis, admitted he didn't even think he'd qualify today.

"To be honest, it was a bit of a surprise, as I struggled all day with the handling of the car," the Colombian said, adding: "After practice, the goal was just to make it on the grid."

Another former open-wheel debutant Max Papis qualified 32nd. This is Papis's first oval race, after he finished fourteenth in his first NASCAR race on the street course at Watkins Glenn in August.

2006 Busch champion Kevin Harvick lines up on the second row, in fourth place.
