Martin dominates Busch Dura-Lube 200

Mark Martin captured his sixth series victory in the Dura-Lube 200 at Darlington Raceway, the 39th of his NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division career

Martin seemed surprised that he was able to win.

After final practice, he felt sure the car would not be a top contender.

But in the race, Martin led 103 of the 147 total laps in the race, pulling away from Dave Blaney to take the flag by 0.940s.

'Before we had got to lapped traffic, I'd reeled him in just a little bit, but I was running my car as hard as I could run,' said Blaney.

'I think he might've been saving a little bit in case I got to him.'

Martin started on the outside of the front row after Ward Burton bested his time by nearly 1-1.5Mph turning in a record-breaking run of 167.676Mph.

Burton had problems as his polewinning car was wrecked in final practice on Friday and required front end repairs.

Following Martin and Blaney across the line were Matt Kenseth, Ward Burton and Joe Nemechek in the top five.

Dale Earnhardt Jnr started 14th and finished 12th, never leading a lap throughout the event.

He still holds onto the series championship points standings by 26 over Kenseth.

The race was completed in 1 hour 31 minutes 6 seconds at an average speed of 132.251Mph slowed by two caution flags for 13 laps total.

Martin, Ward Burton, Kenseth, Blaney, Jim Bown and Jeff Purvis swapped the lead 13 times.

The NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division now heads to Richmond International Raceway for the Autolite Platinum 250 next weekend.
