Keselowski to get Sprint Cup chance

NASCAR Nationwide series front runner Brad Keselowski will step up to the Sprint Cup for two outings this season with leading team Hendrick Motorsports

The 24-year-old, who currently lies third in the Nationwide standings, will attempt to qualify a fifth Hendrick car alongside regular drivers Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Casey Mears.

Team boss Rick Hendrick has been impressed by Keselowski's performances in the Nationwide series this year and wants to give him an opportunity in the Sprint Cup.

"We've gotten a glimpse of what Brad is capable of in Nationwide and that's just scratching the surface," he said. "He has a load of talent and potential, and we're excited to give him an opportunity at the next level."

Hendrick are allowed to enter a fifth car under the NASCAR rule that permits teams to use a rookie in up to seven races in a car that exceeds the current four-car cap.

Keselowski will participate in this week's two-day open test at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
