Kahne on Darlington pole
Kasey Kahne continued strong recent form at Darlington Raceway with pole position for Saturday night's Dodge Charger 500
Kahne's pole made it his third pole in his last four Nextel Cup starts at the venue, Kahne having already recorded two wins from pole position this year.
Alongside Kahne will be fellow Dodge runner Ryan Newman, appropriately securing an all-Dodge front row for the Dodge Charger 500.
In somewhat of a surprise for such an old and traditional track, the remainder of the top five is filled by three rookies. Clint Bowyer, David Stremme and Denny Hamlin show that experience isn't everything at 'the track too tough to tame', at least in qualifying.
Reigning Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart will start from thirteenth, while in the middle of the grid are Richmond winner Dale Earnhardt Jr in 22nd and point leader Jimmie Johnson in 25th.
After costly car problems at the previous round at Richmond, Matt Kenseth's weekend hasn't got off to a good start, starting from 31st position.
