Jimmie Johnson has won the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, just ahead of locals Kyle and Kurt Busch.

The win, Johnson's 15th in the Nextel Cup and fifth from the last nine races, continues a strong run of results that has placed him in the top six for every race since last October. It also puts him back on top of the standings.

Johnson stopped Roush claiming another win at the track they have made their own - Roush cars have won five of the last seven races there. The team still managed to claim second, third and fourth.

"It's going to be a fun battle all the way to the end," noted reigning champion Kurt Busch, third. "You could say that Hendrick and Roush definitely have a distinct advantage over the other groups."

Busch was the meat in a Roush sandwich, behind 19 year old rookie brother Kyle and ahead of Jeff Gordon. It was the best result of Kyle's short Nextel career, who had odds of 60 to 1 to win before the race. "Hey, next year I'll probably have a lot lower odds!"he laughed after the race.

Kevin Harvick, who started 42nd after a fuel irregularity in qualifying, had an eventful race, but he overcame a pitlane speeding penalty to finish fifth.
